Dear Employee,

It is surely not your wish that data about you and your personal details reach unauthorised persons. The Federal Data Protection Law (BDSG) and other relevant regulations protect you from that. However you too have the obligation in the course of your employment activities to treat personalised data of others confidentially, legally and appropriately. You are responsible in treating the personal data entrusted to you (collected, stored, changed, passed on, blocked or wiped) as confidential in the course of your work. According to the guidelines of the BDSG, personal means individual pieces of information of personal or factual details of a certain identifiable individual. Every piece of information of a personal or factual nature can be construed as being about a real person. Misuse and any unauthorised passing on of this data is illegal and is a criminal offence.
You personally are responsible for:

Keeping under lock and key any data or data carrier entrusted to you unless you are working on it.

That no unauthorised person has access to the IT machinery entrusted to you, nor the use of them and their safety procedures.

That data carriers no longer required are disposed of or destroyed according to the instructions of the company so that misuse of data is no longer possible.

You are not allowed to bring into the company private IT machinery, software and data carriers, nor use unlicensed or home made software which has not been developed with the approval of the IT department, as otherwise effective control of data security in the company is severely hampered.

You have been sworn to data confidentiality which continues even after finishing your work in our company (§ 5 BDSG).

Questions about data protection or any doubts should be addressed to your contact within the company or to the data protection office.
