Salve All,

in the wake of the horrible Paris attacks I was tweeting a lot of information regarding the impact of the attacks to our stance towards social and technological issues. Some very thoughtful people were providing wise advice whereas a lot of intellectually challenged people were massively increasing the noise ratio.

After one of my tweets I discovered a sudden spike of hits to this tweet within the first seconds. To put it into figures, the tweet got 100 hits within the first three second it was online. This is a very unusual behaviour regarding the timeframe and the ammount of action.

How do I know?
Well, I'm running my own URL-Shortener which provides me with some basic statistical functions. And these statistics showed me some unusual behaviour. One of my tweets has gone through the roof with its clicks just seconds after it was posted, which is a sure sign of automated access through robots. Some times later my next tweet showed the same behaviour and I started digging into the phenomen. It showed that 80% of the first 130 clicks at a tweet were comming from France and all it took was having abbreviation "ISIS" in the tweet. This was veryfied using different Twitter accounts and adding "ISIS" to posts/tweets which have contextual nothing to do with an ISIS-topic.

So someone in France seems to be very interested what is tweeted about ISIS.
You want to improve your click statistics? Put "ISIS" in your Tweet! :-)

Best regards,

Howard
